The Theme This Year Is: “The Dream Is Still Alive”
The Sunday Memorial Program will be January 15, 2012 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 2729 Lipscomb Street in Melbourne. Rev. Willie C. Barnes of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Eatonville, FL will be the inspirational speaker. Rev. Barnes entire church will be traveling to Melbourne with him. We will also be entertained by his majestic choir that will bring songs of praise and worship. Psalmist Chad Forchino from “Jesus is the Key” will once again bring inspirational praises through a song that is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We are asking the community to please worship with us on Sunday night @ 6:00 p.m. At this memorial program we will recognize members of the community that has been instrumental in making this program happen each year.
On Monday, January 16, 2012, At The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library, 955 E. University Boulevard, We Will Begin Our 3 Mile March/Parade, that will kick off at 9:30 am. (We will start lining up at 8:30 am). We will continue to the Melbourne Civic Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Street and culminate with a program planned by the coalition in the auditorium. The program will start promptly at 11:30 a.m.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Coalition’s will once again allow participation of those who would like to continue walking and also allow motorized vehicles to be included to provide transportation for those who are now unable to walk. We would like for all Churches, Schools, Business and organizations to participate in this parade. We also ask that if an organization or church provide a motorized vehicle to please ask their members to ride on that vehicle. The deadline for submitting information if you will be having a motorized vehicle is January 13, 2012.
